So this is something new, but I’m to start reviewing albums and movies on here as well since I do more than just read.
So who is MARINA?
MARINA was previously known as Marina and the Diamonds, the name stemming from the singer’s own name; Marina Diamandis, has put out three albums prior to the upcoming release of LOVE + FEAR on the 26th of this month.
Those albums are divided into eras;
The first era is titled ‘The Family Jewels’ which Marina released on the fifteenth of February in 2010.
You may recognise Oh No, Hollywood, Obsessions and I Am Not A Robot.
Her second album, or the second ‘era’ is titled ‘Electra Heart’ which is the album that made Marina break through and well known in the US, Electra Heart was released on the 27th of April 2012.
You may know Radioactive, How to be a Heartbreaker, Lies, Bubblegum Bitch and Primadonna.
The third ‘era’ is called ‘Froot’ and released on the 13th of March 2015 and is Marina’s critically acclaimed album which made her familiar to the rest of the world who didn’t know her yet.
You’ll probably recognize Blue, Happy, Froot and Savages.
I had the absolute pleasure of seeing her perform live in The Hague on the 26th of Febraury during her Neon Nature world tour. It was one of the best nights of my life and will forever be one of the best nights of my life.
It got quite silent on her side after her tour was over. She enrolled into college and started studying psychology and she wrote ‘the Marina book’. There were rumors going around that she wasn’t going to write more music and that she quit her music career. She partially confirmed this back in 2017 with a post saying that music just wasn’t the first thing on her mind at the time and that it wouldn’t be for some time either. She released a single with CleanBandit in the summer of 2017 called ‘Disconnect’ after that, more radiosilence.
Then during autumn 2018 she released another single and she had paired up with Luis Fonsi and CleanBandit again, it’s called ‘Baby’
Then sometime halfway through December of 2018 she confessed that she was working on new music and that it was going to release in the new year.
She also changed her name from Marina and the Diamonds to MARINA which has taken some time to get used to, but it’s here to stay and she’s killing it so far.
From the end of January she’s released three singles, those are ‘Handmade Heaven’

Then she promised she would release a new track on the fifth of April and she surprised us all by putting out the first half of her new album!

So far I really love every song’s she put out over the years, there are some unreleased ones that will forever remain my favourite but don’t worry I won’t get into that here.
LOVE + FEAR comes out on the 26th of April (on the same day as Avengers: Endgame) and I am so incredibly excited, my goodness. I became fan sometime around 2014 and it’s been a wild ride ever since. MARINA is one of my top five favourite performers and she’s currently number two on the list:
